Did you know that asthma is one of the most widespread diseases in the world? The “Global Initiative for Asthma” (GINA) estimates that 300 million people worldwide are affected by this disease. And that number continues to increase in many countries, especially among children. That is why GINA initiated the World Asthma Day (in 2018, this will be on May 1) to inform the public about the risk factors and warning signals for asthma in a focused way.
In this context, the current research results by the, sadly, recently deceased Dr. Joachim Riethmueller, Senior Doctor at the University Clinic for Paediatrics and Youth Medicine in Tuebingen deserve special attention. For years, Dr. Joachim Riethmueller has been very successfully treating affected children and adolescents with cystic fibrosis using the Microsalt application, a development patented by the company KLAFS.
Microsalt generates a particularly fine, maximum quality salt aerosol that spreads across the entire area. When inhaling, these fine salt particles – unlike with conventional salt applications – spread across the entire respiratory system, from the nose, the sinuses, the throat to the extreme lung areas, and can have an expectorant effect here.
“The dry salt inhalation has its strengths in areas where it can support medical therapies. Recognisable successes can also be achieved in the prevention of allergy symptoms like hay fever and asthma," Dr. Riethmueller has reported about his experiences. After five days of successive therapy, he observed that his cystic fibrosis patients not only clearly increased the secretolysis, i.e. the mucus clearance in the bronchial tubes, but the lung function parameters have also markedly improved – and all this without any side effects.
It is important to know that Microsalt technology is easily accessible and affordable for private households. With the new, portable and battery-powered SaltProX device, any sauna or infrared cabin can be easily converted into a salt inhalation room. Experts are delighted: The jury of the renowned “Plus X Award” has rewarded the clearly added value of the new SaltProX device with awards in the four categories innovation, high quality, ease of use and functionality and as “Best Product of the Year 2017” in its category.
